CV lube is leaking out past the gasket

Just realized I never finished this thread...
It appears that the CV's/axles in my 87 944 T are not original. It seems that OEM CV's for this car did not have the recessed areas and gaskets. Since the CV's on my car do, they must not be original to the car.
Regarding the lube weeping out...it appears to be operator error. I had used my inch-lb torque wrench, not my ft-lb torque wrench.
Doh!

At least it wasn't the other way around. Assembeling my buddies engine after it got back from the machine shop and there's a large difference between 13ft/lb and 13in/lbs. Needless to say, first bolt I went to snug down, the head snapped off in the block.

944 Turbo CV Gaskets
The 944 Turbos do in fact have CV gaskets that are made out of a cork/rubber compound. The grease that is coming out of your bolt holes is supposed to be kept in place by the gasket. Even worse, is the grease will fly out all & spray all over your gas tank & under carriage of your car from centrifugal force.
I have have a 968 & 944TS trans and both of the new axles Lobro/GKN come with new gaskets glued to the joints.
They are not available from the dealer and I have not found them anywhere.
So, I went to a local gasket shop, to have them made. The gaskets were only $6 each, but the programming fee was $100. Too rich for my blood for about $0.30 worth of material.
Being in the Hydraulics business, I have decided to modify my joints to accept an O-Ring on the outside diam of the joints. I dont have a problem with them coming out of the bolt holes, just spraying grease out the sides when hauling *** down the back straight of Sebring.

How much grease did you use? Sounds like you used too much. It expands under heat and then *has* to come out somewhere.
You should use about 1/2 a bag per joint.

Hmm, I just replaced all four cv joints on the rear of my '89 turbo and there were no gaskets included with the kits purchased from Pelican (Lobro 25 Spline, part #302277) and no gaskets on the joints I disassembled. I also used Stage 8 locking bolts and after a few months and several hundred miles, no issues and no grease leaking out.
