Default Zimmerman rotors for track duty?

Hey guys,

I was planning on getting OE rotors since I need them. I plan on seeing 2-3 track days a year, but regardless I don't like taking chances on things like rotors. I was just looking a prices and the zimmermans seem to be a real popular and less expensive alternative. Also, I have no interest in anything slotted or drilled. I'll probably go OE, but want to make sure I've looked into all my options first. Has anyone used them and trust them on the track?

I moved away from Zimmermans on my 944 spec. Too rich for me. I just got the cheaper $30 chinese front rotor and took some rears off a parts car. They work just fine racing the car hard. I might get a little more wear from the Zimmermans than cheap chinese ones, but it is hard to tell for sure.

I use zimmerman (non-drilled) for PCA autocross and also lapping and time attack on a very tight local track, no issues at all.

Joe, where do you get the cheap chinese front rotors from?

No drilled Zimmerman rotors for the track but solids are ok.

The GT3 guys have discovered the 350mm Cayenne rotors are a Cheap rotor source for track/street. I've put the 330mm Cayenne rotors on the 944...no fade with those beasts.

Paragon-- $36 vs $52 for zimmermans.
http://www.paragon-products.com/pors...iscs_s/422.htm

They only work on early offset cars however.

Thanks, shame its only early offset, cheaper consumables are always nice!

On the 944 S2 and Turbo, the OE rotors last 50% longer than the Zimmermans. They are visually different in design and construction and the OE item looks much better made.

Cheers,
Mike

I am on my 7th DE with drilled Zimmermans all around.

I have had no issues....other than having to make sure I clean the brake dust from the holes.
