Question interior dilemma

so i have an 85.5 na, the dash is all cracked, the seats are tore up, the carpets in okay condition, the back seats are mint. i would love to lose all the weight but im really not sure of the pros and cons of gutting the interior. my plans are to autocross the car, and i was gonna put a roll bar in any way.

pros
- less weight
-race look/feel
-less to worry about (cleaning wise)

cons
- loud
- hot/cold summer/winter
- unrefined feel,
-ladies wont like it

- so the real question is, is it worth the performance gain, and could i sell the interior for any reasonable sum of money.
i dont plan on selling the car ever, i already have to much ($4,000) invested total. and ai just want to drive it till it dies then do a LS swap.

Yea unless the interior is mint you wont get much at all for it.

I drove my 951 stripped for a few weeks and I HATED it.

you can loose a good bit of weight by removing the upper rear seat half, and switching to a race style seat. Also when you autocross you can remove some more weight by pulling the rear carpet and the spare.

Noise, mostly. It makes the car much louder, and ruins the "feel" IMO of a street 944.

Also if you strip the carpets out you really wont loose that much weight.

I actually went the other way and added sound deadening to the car.

If you don't want to drive the car on the street other than to and from the autocross pad or to and from the track strip it. If you actually want to drive it on the street keep it. The performance gain is very noticeable and fun. In a performance setting you will love it. Crusing down the hwy it will suck big time.

well i had done it to my 86 monte Carlo and it honestly wasn't that bad. it could have been the 350 v8 that was roaring through the straight pipes that exited right under the pass. compartment. but i would really love to increase the performance of my car.

i think the 968 had more sound deadening but i lost around 80 lbs. when i removed my carpet and even replaced it with some foam for sound deadening and some lightweight carpet from a vendor. so it looks presentable and with the rear seat delete, im about 100lbs under stock weight. and i keep the spare/jack/tools. you don't want to lose too much weight from the rear or you'll be sliding around all over the place... at least i was...
