Default Losing brake fluid

Last night I was on a 45 minute drive and the little "!" light would come on and off randomly but I couldn't see the low brake fluid light come on because the sun was setting. All my gages were good and I thought it was the e-brake switch, on my way home about midnight I noticed it was the brake fluid light.

Filled up this morning before going to work and it was low again on my way home tonight. What should I start checking?

See any puddles under the car? Did you notice and degraded brake performance?

of note, while I would willingly add PS fluid, or coolant knowing there might be a leak, I'd be a bit more worried about driving the car with leaking brake fluid

Could be Master Cylinder, Resevoir, Brake lines, failing calipers etc.

Can't really remember, but doesn't brake fluid also feed the clutch in these cars? failing clutch component?

I have no idea. Brakes worked fine and I didn't notice anything under the car today when I was leaving work. I guess I'll top her up again and see if I can tell. It's been fine since I bought the car a few months ago and then this.

You'll lose the clutch, before the brakes. Its like that, so you cant drive with really low fluid. Thats the theory anyways.

Please dont drive with leaking brake fluid.

I realized what I did. Went out there to take a look and the fluid level was at the bottom of the little cup. I think what I did was fill the cup this morning and it really didn't top off the resivor. When it sat for 9 hours at work it had time to work it's way through that little hole in the bottom and therefore my fluid was at a the very bottom of the sensors travel again. It only did it on bumps or with the car going up a steap hill.

I'm going to keep a careful eye on it and when I get some garage space double check everything. I did notice that there was a little bit a crud in the bottom of the cup. I wipes that out.

An a side note, something else happened last night. I guess the arm rest was only being held on with one screw and it popped out when I closed the door. Pull extras out of my parts car so that's fixed now.

I had the same thing happen with my brake fluid. It turned out to be the rubber Reservoir Grommet in between the Master Cylinder and the Reservoir. It was the first thing I tried cause it was only $10 to fix it.
