Default Rennbay 944 Rear Tow Eye

Does anyone have one? Any pictures? Any isses with towing? Worth $30?

I did search first. I want to see pics to see how low it hangs down, and I also want to see where it attaches to.

Thanks!

It isn't for towing, but tying down while being towed on a trailer. Mounts in the factory shipping location.

They say on their website "Adding a TOW EYE to the rear of the Porsche 944 used to be a huge challenge for many owners."

So I cant use this to pull my 944 on to a flat bed? Or to be yanked out of a ditch?

IIRC, The tie downs (tow hooks) are mounted on the inboard side of the wells just forward of the rear tail lights. There should be 3 bolts that match up to the tie down holes. I believe I would add a larger steel plate to the inside of the well. A slow steady pull would be best. NO YANKING!!

Cheers,
Larry

You can use them as a hard point to tie down or pull the car from. They can be used for pulling the car up on a flat bed if need be or being pulled out of a ditch... I would stay away from any "yanking" action though.

Our rear tow hooks are made from 1/4" steel plate so they are quite sturdy. The finish is first zinc plated then powdercoated on top. The zinc plating, though you can't see it from the outside, prevents the tow hooks from rusting in the event the powdercoating is ever scratched during use.

It was a bit of a busy afternoon today getting some things in order for 944Fest and I haven't even got back to the shop as of yet. If its not too late I will give you a ring when I get back or else in the morning.

I have them on my car and last year I had to be towed when I had a gas line in the back of the car leaking and did not want to risk catching on fire on the way to the shop. The tow driver used them to tie down the back of the car and the chains and hooks never left a mark or scratch on them.

Here is a pic right before taking the car off the flatbed.

Generally, good advice.

I have used the tow point from REEEENNNNBBBAY and it's great. Does the job as advertised!

I have them in the back on both sides. They come in handy for trailering and they look pretty nice from the right angle
