If I had to choose between a 968 and a 993 I would go for the 993 simply because it was the last of the air-cooled 911's and that engine is durable and fantastic. However, the 968 comes into its own with its handling characteristics. Not to mention that 3.0 engine isn't exactly lacking either.. Good luck with the search! Post some pics when you find one!
To be honest, now I am torn between 964 Targa (Best targa model in terms of design), or a 993 Cabrio, and I am leaning toward the 964 Targa (Manual or Automatic, doesn't matter).

Gonna buy one of them when I have enough money for the car + one year maintenance in advance.

Gotta love interchangeable parts, not like those *cough* Italian *cough* car *cough* brands, where the smallest , most trivial part can cost you the same as buying a new Hyundai Accent (That if you can find that Italian car parts, since they're unique).

Though, one thing scared me off, was browsing these forums, and found that the OEM front glass panel of the 993 cost can go up to 10k$.

Well, there's nothing wrong with aftermarket glass... I got an aftermarket windshield in my '84 944, and it's fantastic.

My dad had a 964 targa. It's a matter of taste, so if you like it, go for it. Just be careful with those early 964s, they have no headgaskets and they LOVE to leak oil. The only way to stop it is to take out the engine and fix it.
