recommended sealant for gear carrier to diff housing?
X-posted on pelican.
What sealant do you use on the flanges between the gear carrier and the diff housing. Loctite 518 has been recommended elsewhere, but 510 seems more apropriate due to its resistance to high temps and solvents, but this is non-flexible.
Should I just go with the 574 I have left over from my engine rebuild?

I seem to recall that it is 574 that is used there. From a temp and solvent point of view - the temperature of the gearbox would be much less than the engine temperature and the gear oil versus engine oil would be similar from a solvent perspective

Ive used both 574 and permatex aviation gasket for the gear carrier seal and diff side plate - both work fine.

Thanks
I'll go for the loctite 574 then. Now all I need is to find the courage and willpower to drop the transmission.
While we're talking about sealants. What sealant would you use to seal the gap between the oil temp sensor I'm about to install and the Lindsey Racing drilled and tapped oil plug?
