I'm thinking of replacing the OEM crossmember with the 3 piece unit I found online. After reviewing all the pics, procedures and other stuff I think that all I have to do is:
Support the engine from above, unbolt the steering rack from the crossmember, unbolt the engine mounts from above, unbolt the lower A-arms from the crossmember and then unbolt the crossmember and replace it with the 3 piece unit. Did I miss anything? I'll do anything to avoid disassembling the suspension.

A few good WYAIT things for this, motor mounts for sure, bushings on the control arms, oil pan gasket.
Not if you are going to be in there anyway. For rod bearings, without the 3 piece CM, it takes 11-12 hours. With the 3 piece, it's like 2.5.
I've got one in on mine because that means access to the oil pan is that much easier. Here's mine before being put on the car.

For MikeC. It might seem like overkill for a non-racer but as I see it, I'm retired and need a car to play with in the shop. I bought this one to keep and they'll probably bury me in it. This is my third and with over 120k miles, there's things that will need periodic attention. Long term plan is to make it like new again.
I drove it from Santa Fe, NM to SW Florida at 75 mph and got a consistent 28 to 30 mpg. That's a winner in this day of high gas prices. Just love these cars.

I put $75 into quality wheel locks when I bought them. I also put BFG G-force tires on them and used the tire calculator to get the proper width and diameter for fitment. Tire Rack shipped to my local tire store and they mounted them. Great process and so far love the outcome. The wheels look better on these cars than the phone dials. Your's looks great too.
