Default emission test pipe

I have an emission test pipe next to the rear of the engine, passenger side. Is this part necessary for anything in non-emissions regulated states? If not, I'll just cap off the port on the exhaust pipe.

Mine is not supported by the brackets shown on the exploded engine diagrams and is just sitting there, vibrating. If I need to keep it, any ideas where I can get the support brackets?

I've heard it was used for emissions testing in Europe, so theres no need to have it. If you give your car to a Porsche specialist it will come back with it removed usually.

A lot of test pipes have rusted thru and are removed at #21.

I kept the nut at #21, put a tapered flat head bolt in the hole that was large enough to seal and retightened the nut.
