Default Headlighs ON... All The Time!

SITREP:

1987 944S... New headlight switch two months ago, IceShark headlights and wiring rig.

Headlight switch is "on", cig light is "on", headlights are "on"!

Headlight switch of "OFF", cig light is "OFF", headlights are "ON"

I don't know (just noticed it this morn pulling in to work) the behaviour of the markers and taillights relative to the switch and headlight behaviour (I'll check it when I get home).

Right now the batter disconnect has the lights turned off.

Relay" What are your opinions, please???

That wouldn't be so bad.

The problem is that the lights stay on even when the engine, key, and light switch are turned off!!!

Well it sounds like your lights are wired to a non ignition controlled Positive.

So where did you pull the 12V power from when you installed the wiring harness? Or your Relay isn't cutting the connection.. (Did you use a new relay? Like $4 at Autozone I think...)

pn...

Our Friend Dan was alive and kicking when the system was installed, so its' been wired up and working fine for many years, now...

About two months ago I plugged in a new light switch into the dash (plug and play) and still, everything was working fine until this morning.

The relays (every one in the equation, IIRC) were supplied by IceShark, so I know they're top notch. I wonder if one of the two relays (that Dan sent me) have somehow malfunctioned and arched in an "ON" position, quite independent of the light switch on the lower dash? Since power is always ON to the relay in question and (if things are working correctly) is ONLY transferred to the headlights when the signal from the light switch trips the relay!

As it stands, until I get this fixed it will be the old "standby"... Connect battery and drive, park, disconnect battery until time to drive again. Ugh!

OK, I gotch ya now... It certianly seems like a relay... Especially since the interior lights are changing with the switch position.

I have not messed with my Headlights at all (Need too though.. Stock ones are awful)
