Question 944 was overheating... think i screwed up!!

Ok, I am hoping that everyone here can help me out!

I have an 86 944 NA. The car started overheating on the highway. I was able to get it towed home. So far I have changed the Temp control valve and the waterpump (through the youtube video and the manual). After done, I tried to start it up and the car is not wanting to turn over, seems like it just stops on the compression stroke.

I have been trying to think this through but at this point I am frustrated and could use some help. Thanks

Greg

Well if you changed the Waterpump: Are you sure you set the Timing Belt Properly? If it is not turning over it is possible the piston is contacting the valves... You should have turned it over by hand after reinstalling the T-Belt to insure the timing is correct. I would recommend you try turning it over by hand, and check the timing... (removing spark plug makes it easier to turn over)

If you did hit a piston to a valve with the starter it is fairly probable that you damaged a valve.

Good Luck and keep us updated.

Or..your headgasket leaked and there is water in the combustion chamber. Pull the plugs and have a look inside.

Pull the plugs and roll the motor over by hand.. if it wont roll by hand you have the cam timed wrong, if water comes out of the plug holes you have a bad head gasket...
