Take a look at the way the forces are flexing the sidewall of the lower section of the outside rear tire. Very impressive.

Default So your 997 replicas in your profile on black 951 are ?

Looking like you have the right fit, so yours are prob 18" 997T wheels reduced -1 replicas ? I think they only look good on 951/968 in that 18".

I feel my 18" Boxster Techno Twist OEM are right size after having 16 dish manhole OE 951 & then 964 C2 17s, & now my 18" Twists with 265/35-18 Pole Position S02 rubber.

I found for my neighbor set of the 2k2 C2 silver 5 star replicas with 8 & 10", her suspension is stock but the 225 rub her fenders, yet mine don't rub and i have 2k2 18" Box S with spacers on my '86, her black 951 is '87 and those replica 10" rear are a bit heavy, i think that we both have 8x18" front but diff ET

Nice that '87 951 didn't need spacers for 996 2002 replica 5 stars, NOT good that the fronts rub badly, at stock height, on U turns.

Her Ebay rims from Italy need another coat of brilliant silver because hers was thin around the center around lug holes. She paid $944.00 shipped NEW, including Jap tires and w/ nice new OE 997 plastic gold crest caps.

My OE Box S 18" had 200 miles on them with also with new Jap tires and dealer chrome including crests for $1800 shipped. Porsche does offer some in polish, they don't triple chrome for warranty issues and added weight reasons, it's a was Porsche dealer option. Many dealers chrome Cayenne Turbo wheels.

I didn't see many 951 with 18" back in 2002, Not many replica 18 then, so i just took a chance & went with spacers, maybe i upgrade hubs later but i am concerned it may rub like her 18" do in front.

I may have to cut up her front plastic shroud liner inside her wheel well, because they are getting chewed up every U turn i can hear it grind.

I would have bought your car at the local salvage auction if it was there! Good looking car even though it ate a wall. My deepest sympathy.

Got 19" Fuchs replica on my 944. 285/30(?)/19 rear. No known issues.

Looking too big? After a while, 17" started looking too small.

17x8/10 Custom offset. These wheels fit absolutely perfect. I couldn't imagine going any bigger. The unsprung weight of anything bigger will destroy the front suspension very quickly. I own an early 944. The late 944 may be a bit more Capable of handling 18/19" wheels, but in my opinion much to large.
Looks cool thou. <br/>Thm

Um....no! Kinda funny to say that the "unsprung" weight will destroy what is holding up and controlling the movement of the weight of the entire rest of the car.

There may be other factors that wear out a suspension faster than the factory intended. Like race tires!....etc.

But a few lb difference at the bottom end of a spring designed to control thousands of pounds of force at the other end isn't going to be one of them. Especially since most of the time, that weight is pushing down on your wheels.

Coming from 15/16" factory light weight wheel, (944) then putting on a 18/19" wheel will be fine? You think your suspension was designed for this? Go hit a pot hole and tell me that your 19" wheel and your factory designed suspension was up to the task. Not a chance. Ask yourself how your ball joints are after running 19" wheels.
A few pounds LOL. Get your scale out. Have fun with the unsprung weight.

The reason these cars had 15/16 inch wheels wasn't due to suspension design. It's what was available at the time.

There are many many 944 owners that have run big wheels for long periods of time without ill effects. If you are at the same rolling diameter then the effect would be minimal at best. Street driving with any wheel combo is far less stressful on things than the tens of thousands of track hours these cars have seen over decades.

I personally have had 18s on my 951 for about 8 years and 19s on my 928 for about 7 years, 22s on my CTT for about 7 years. Have yet to have a ball joint spontaneously explode. :roll eyes:

If you are so convinced of this than provides some hard math and real facts

hundreds of RLers been running 18s for a decade now w/ the ride only a bit harsher than the old stuff...

but, overall, nothing I've seen or heard about any more severe than a few worn caster blocks.

I pulled 200 k miles from my 968 suspension with no worries.

finally swapped the A-arms/ball joints/struts/strut mounts/bushings.

save for the caster blocks, all good for the next 100,000+ street miles.

19s, however.... seem to be the tipping point

where those who've ridden on them claim the ride gets a bit too harsh.

Some of the comments! How you do know what you state as a fact?

But curb rashes are definitely easier to get with 19".

With 295/30/19 at the rear, the inner lip in the wheel well needs to be bend inwards. Doing this on my car damaged the paint enough as to require also paint work. (This wasn't the case with my 928GTS, 295/30/19 fitted without any issues.)
