at start up it goes to little over 5 bar like normal... anyway what got my attention was at highway speeds it pegs high and was kinda bouncing btween 4.5 bar and pegged high ( over 5 bar ) ...it ussually just sits right at 4.5 bar.... when warm at idle it goes down to 2.5 to 3 bar ( normal ) but its bouncing up to 4 bar ...never done this before...OPRV?? SENDER?? no recent change of anything oil wise ... running 10w 40 redline syn like always ...engine and car @ 89000 mi ... 1990 944 s2 thanks for any opinions Btw checked oil right on stick line ...no usage... no lights on dash

Could be a loose wiring connection, since this causes the gauge to peg over 5 bar. If the fluctuation is super quick (needle is twitchy), more than likely its in the wiring. If its slower it could be an actual oil pressure problem.

The oil pressure gauge wiring is part of the harness that plugs in behind the oil pressure and volt meter side of the dash (assuming you have an 85.5 and up dash). It could very well an intermittent connection there. Also check the the connection at the sending unit.
