Default Ipod only Stereo Stealth Install

Hey, I currently live in a real dumpy part of brooklyn and use my '91 prelude as a beater for driving to work sometimes or going back and forth to nj. My car radio has been jacked, and somebody actually broke into the car and stole the rear stock speakers.

My guess is that the early 90's hondas were the premier target of auto thieves so they've had alot of practice. Anway, this car means nothing to me, and it can burn as far as I care. However, it does still drive real nice and just cosmetically is beat up.

My plan, I'd like to install a small amp, ideally the size of a pack of cigarettes or something that can drive the two front door speakers and will jsut look like it currently does and just plug in with a small 1/8" aux wire.

Any amps like this exist?

I know I could put a larger amp in there and input the ipod into the rca's, just trying not to do this.

I'm asking this here as I trust the 944 water coolers to think outside the box and have a wealth of information not easily found anywhere on the net.

Not entirely sure how the Alpine power pack would work... I'm assuming it could be rigged to fit. but it might be easier to buy some cheapo HU and toss it in the glove box or something.

Your prelude the 4 wheel steering model by any chance?

I was going to suggest the Apline unit too. You could wire the remote turn on(if it has one) to an ignition switched accessory lead, so amp is turned off when car is off. It may have auto triggering when it senses an input signal.

I have this almost new T-amp sitting around if you're interested... it runs on 12v and is pretty small - 1.5"x3.5"x5" $40 shipped

Cool ideas everyone, thanks. Yeah let me think about that amp Karl.

Nah this car isn't that infamous 4-wheel steering model. However it does have the honda sport shifting mode, which is basically a tiptronic system imo, that is pretty slick. Stomp on the gas, redline, press button, upshifts, repeat, upshift, repeat get off the gas, press button and downshifts to cruise.

Also I think I set a record as it cost $43 bucks to fill this car up, I can't imagine a 1990 honda engineer ever imagining it'd cost that much to fill this car up, lol.
