Belt Tensioning
Hey guys i was wondering if there was anyone in the Seattle/Federal way area that would be willing to help tension the belt on my 84? I've never done it before and just want to make sure that it gets done correctly.

I don't know anybody up there, and I'm 1,500 miles (or so) away... But, I'll give encouragement.
Don't over think it. Its not as difficult as RL will have you believe. Read the Clarks-garage how-to forward and backwards while you're looking at your engine. Make sure you understand what is going on. Then give it a go.
No worries! Take your time.
What tool are you using for tension?

Is this a re-tension after 1,000 miles, or a fresh belt? Yes, you need to take off the black covers. To do the twist method, you need to remove the idler to the right of the WP, too. Can't say if that is necessary when using the gauge.

All in all, the belts really aren't any harder to deal with in this car versus others I've worked on aside from the simple fact that you have two of them. The problem is more psychological because of the fear of $crewing something up.
Hopefully you can find somebody to help you for peace of mind but if you can't then I still think you'll be ok as long as you're careful with doing the work.
