Default Rear hatch angle??

Odd title to a slightly odd question, but does anyone know or could they measure the angle of the rear glass in relation to the ground from side on? So by eye from the diagram shown I would guess approx 20o at the roofline and 35o at the bottom where it meets the spoiler.

I would appreciate any help on this ASAP. Feel free to PM me too.

How accurate do you need this? What are you planning?

I can measure the angles for you, and subtract the angle of my driveway.... but if you car is lowered, or is sitting at a different rake, its obviously going to be a few degrees off.

That is a great graphic too. It would make hypothetical mods very easy to draw up. Are there different angles?

It probably doesn't have to be to the micron accurate and thanks for offering. I'm discussing some potential aero additions with a company and they were interested in these angles. As you say, there are potential variances so I'm sure just an approx which will be within a couple of degree either way I'd imagine.

I 'borrowed' that diagram from the D9 boys. No different or 3D angles unfortunately. Here's another one I 'borrowed' which I think you'll like.

Patrick,

The following angles (in degrees) are measured at the top , middle, and bottom (just up from the spoiler) of the glass. These are relative to an angle of 0 degrees at the door sill.

12.7
16.7
22.5

Hope this helps.

Eric, thanks but what do you mean door sill at 0 degrees? Do you mean as if the door sill was perpendicular to the ground (presuming ground was level)?
I mean if ground is 0 degrees but looking at your results made me rethink my guesstimation nos and I believe you've supplied me the numbers I am after, yes?

Patrick,

My door sill measures 0 degrees - as does the floor level in my garage (ie my car is level front to rear). So my answer to your question is yes. If your car has a different rake then the slope of the rear screen will change (relative to ground), so you will need to compensate for the rake of your car if you want a value relative to ground for YOUR car.

Hope that helps.

Eric

Thanks for posting this. I have a Mazda 3 rear spoiler I want to mod up when I get a chance.

Thanks guys. I am looking at a different wing setup and these guys are pretty cutting edge from what I can see. Due to having to run under different rules and restrictions for various events I am possibly looking to something that is modular and changeable depending on the event of the day. Then it's a matter of balancing this with the front splitter and other devices. Interesting stuff.

second car looks beast... give me that car and some fiberglass round fender flares and then you'll have this! Still with the factory 944 lights instead of those other ones of course
