Default Re-using lifters

I recently rebuilt yet another motor, and this time did it right (i.e. at a shop). The only problem is that I replaced all of the lifters with new ones, and they seem to be prone to failure. There are many posts in many places about the poor quality of INA lifters.

I have a bunch of old ones, but am not sure if they have been through a motor blow up or not. I had a couple of No.2 rod bearings go bad and similar problems with a bent crank shaft.

My question is: I assume that any lifter that has been through a blown motor is contaminated, even though said motor would have only run for a few seconds and the orifice is quite small. Is there any way to clean them out?

If not, I guess it's time to start looking for used ones - I don't want to be replacing these things for the rest of my life!

There has been some current discussion. Make sure you keep the lifters soaked as suggested in the link above in any case.

If I understand all that is discussed, really soft lifters are no good. They will not pump up.

Semihard and hard lifters are good. They have the internal piston full of oil and are "pumped Up".

INA is still not a good choice for longevity.

what manufacturer did Porsche use in their stock lifters? Wasn't that INA?

Well, I have two lifters that are very soft. Remainder are OK. They are two years old, but only a handful of races (maybe 5-6 hours total track time). I can beg for warranty replacements but that's not the point. I do not want to have to repeatedly change lifters!
