Default Installing Delrin Bushings on front 944 sway bar

Does anyone know if the edge with then lip (fat) end go on the bar first or does it stay on the end with the clip? I'm referring to the end bushings. These things seem to be a *itch to install. Any tricks to make this process easier?

I would think that the end with the lip goes on the inside so that the bushing would have no way of walking off the bar, with or without the circlip.

As for the fit, I would think you could open up the inside of the bushing so that it is a better slip fit on the bar. Should only take a little sanding/filing to achieve.

the "lip" goes on the inside (that end on first).
This is likely too obvious, but whenever working with swaybars make sure the whole front end of the car is up - so the bar isn't loaded, otherwise aligning to the control arms will be .... challenging

They are very tight. I just purchased a set of 968 M030 bars with these bushings installed...some of the powdercoat had to be ground off, and they're STILL tight as hell.

I'm with Riff on this one. A little sanding will help, less powdercoat to remove

You might want to go back and sand the bushings down a bit and paint the bar ends. The PC prevents the bar from rusting.

Ya, thats what I would have done. I bought the bars used that way...no big, the car doesn't go out in rain anyway.

The trick was to remove some material with a round file. I also left the bar outside on a very cold night and then the end bushing went on snugly with a deep socket and hammer.

Thanks

digging up old thread here. any tips on getting the stock bushing and drop link off? spray WD40 and just use a hammer?

also, is the stock bushing usually destroyed after removal? i plan on re-using the stock rubber bushing. i am only doing one side which has a broken drop link.

I've never had much problem getting the stock bushings on and off, you just have to work at it a bit and use some proper lubricant.

Dont use any petroleum based lubes, they will swell the bushing. Use something like silicone.
