I see some sellers of head gaskets advertising that the HG can fit 944, 924S as well as 951. Is this possible? When I examine porsche part numbers I find that a 944 takes a 944 104 374 14 wile a 951 takes a 951 104 374 02. Is there a physical difference in the gaskets, if so what is it?

I heard someone saying that the 951 HG is thinner, and also that it might improve your engine to a higher compression in a na by having the head closer to the block. I really don't think you'll get an improvement with such a small amount.

The "turbo" marked HG is now the normal shipped for the 944 engines that do not need a thicker HG due to "surface" machine work on the head that would require the thicker HG.
It is similiar to the "upgraded/updated" turbo WP.
The picture shows my old HG and the new "turbo" HG (my spare)
I am not sure if the turbo HG is thinner than the OEM. I measured with a digital caliper and compared the uncompressed areas of the old to the new and the cylinder aluminum crush sections and it is difficult to say.
