Question Tuning basics

Call me a dumbass, but it's been a whil since I did some basic tuning (Last car was a Rear enginged Mini Kit-car!).

As a rule, when adjusting fuel mixtures, a bogging down means the thing is too rich, and a sort of bucking means it's too lean. Right???

Thanks for that!

Yea.. that is "good enough" tuning.

If you are so lean it bucks, say a prayer your head gasket likes to remain where it is.

Best $150 you'll spend is at a dyno. You can get some serious power gains from tweaking an AF curve. The car may drive great if it is at 10:1 or 15:1 AF ratio. So good, you may think it is tuned well. Some people have seen a 75hp increase by getting that AF ratio to a steady 12.5:1

A fuel pressure gauge is also a wonderful tool to have.

Happy motoring!
