What do you folks recommend for clear coat on wheels? I'd like to strip the suckers and repaint them black/silver rim...hm...Do you paint the outside rim on cookie cutters or snad them or polish or what...? Sorry, I'm digressing from the thread...

Dan, no clear coat... sanded the old paint off with 220, 400, & steel wool. Wiped down with alcohol, primed two coats of Krylon Gray Primer, did two coats of Aluminum. Jim, Thanks for the answers. I think when I do mine I'll add clear coat to the top for additional durability. Maybe a satin clear so it doesn't look too DIY'er?
Don't know why everyone thinks they have to strip to bare metal as long as the paint they're going over is strongly adhering?
