Went to the VIR today...
Had a great time. 996 Cup car took first, and the Saleen a close second - it was a great race! I went with rennlister PUrv944.
Saw a whole gaggle of Porsches there throughout the day. Any fellow rennlisters? Saw 2 944's, a 951, 968 and a nice looking 924S. Of course there were a bunch of 911's and a few boxters there as well. Can't believe I live only 45 min from the track and I havent tried to go to any DE's... anyone know how often they hold them there? I would definately like to get some track time if possible.

I'm going to a DE there in mid feb. I will be with two friends driving modified e30 and e36s.
We were actually planning on going today but with $40 for entry and $10 for parking (for a trans-am race? no thanks) we decided to go for a drive to the mountains instead. If I knew you were going maybe we'd stop by.

and the triangle z club (forget their website) should mention the track events.

The Audi Club will be running at VIR on Dec 7-8. You can run your Porsche, you just have to join the Audi Club ($40 dues.) VIR is a wonderful track; I ran my Audi S4 there in April 2001 and ran the 951 there with the Audi Club in April 2002. I'm going back again for the December event.

Renn, three questions:
Are they running full course, how much time do I have to sign up for it, and how much is enterance aside from being a club member? OK, one more question how does audi club do tech inspections?

Over1g:
1. Yes, we will be running the full course - 3.26 miles.
2. You can sign up until the the event fills, but if you wait you may lose out. After Nov 16, there is a $25 late fee.
3. The fee for the event is $260, which includes dinner at the Saturday night banquet and an event T-shirt. So, with the ACCNA membership fee it costs you $300, but the membership is good for a year, and you could come back again for the club's Spring 03 event and just pay the event fee.
4. You need a pre-event tech inspection done by a qualified mechanic. It needs to be done within 30 days of the event, and there is a form for the mechanic to fill out that you can download after you sign up. There's also a quick tech inspection done just before you pick up your registration materials at the event, to make sure everything still looks good.
