Randy,
Why not just polish them?
-Matt
BTW, they look great. I think I can touch those spots up with some silver wurths. Also, I think I need longer studs. Need to check into it...

I have been, but its too much work!! I got one of the runners looking REAL good... SFR good (the straight runner), but the other ones are more difficult to do because of the kinks and curves. I bought a dremmel today, but all it seems to be doing is scratcing the hell out of the intake... I am going to see if I can smooth it down from there with maybe 600grit sand paper, we'll see. Chroming would just be a LOT easier, and would be an even shine

Glad to hear you like the wheels. Did any of them fit? I remember when I first bought them, I got them on and found out the fronts scuffed the calipers... so I just drove around with 2 phone dials on the front, and the boxster rims on the rear for 2 days till I found spacers <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

There's a 3M wheel that you may put on your electric drill that will give you better results than a dremel. I don't think it's much more than $15. Dremel's are too small for this job. Once you get the bumps down you can then start sanding with finer and finer grits of paper all the way to wet paper. Then get it on a buffing wheel with some jewelers rouge.
This is on my list of things to do. In fact I was just on the net searching for a benchtop buffer.
By the way, I'm not a big fan of coating your runners with chrome or paint. Seems to me that it would impair their ability to disapate heat. I'm going to chrome/coat a few things in my engine bay but not things that are going to heat up to significant temps.

Amateurs.
If you want to polish, you have to get an old one hp engine with shaft extensions on either side and install big diameter buffing wheels. Then you can buy big bars of buffing compound in different abrasive grades.
If you're not leaning on the wheel, you're not buffing!
Actually, you can buy a cheap grinder and install cloth buffing wheels pretty easily. Probably save some money too, but it's hard to do the bigger parts. Polished alloy looks better than chrome anyday.
