Anyone in L.A. who knows how to switch to non-air bag steering wheel?
I've been wanting to change my steering wheel to non-air bag for awhile (years) now. I have seen this 944S2 project but it looks complicated for me. I first saw this in 9 mag on a 968 and the way they described how it was done seems a liitle bit simpler but then again no specific instruction on how to.Perhaps a rennlister in L.A. can read this and be kind enough to help me.I have an '89 944 turbo and I want to install this 930 style steering wheel.

Easy to do. This DIY will only disable driver's airbag, but keep all the other elements of airbag controls function (i.e. fuel cut-off, passenger bag). This also prevents the airbag warning light from activating.
1. Disconnect negative terminal to battery.
2. Wait 20 minutes to discharge any capacitive charge in system
3. Use torx driver to remove steering wheel/airbag cover.
4. Disconnect and remove airbag, but hang on to female connector from the dash to the airbag.
5. Insert 3 ohm resistor across the terminals of the female connector and use electrical tape to secure.
6. Remove steering wheel with 22mm socket and install your wheel adapter and or steering wheel.
7. Reconnect negative terminal.
