Question body side moulding

Has anyone made their own? I see that places like pelican sell a 944 moulding kit but it's like $700! I see moulding distributors online which will sell the same ( or close) cross-section in 8ft lengths....just wondered if anyone has made their own?

I just noticed a big mark on mine where someone must have connected hard with their door in the last day or two. It looked like it was in there for good, but the mark came off with my fingernail and there's not a scratch or mark. I don't know what kind of plastic they're made of, but it sure performs.

Still, $700 seems a little high. There must be some used ones around at wreckers, they probably wouldn't be damaged in your average crash.
