Default Door trim. adhesive or paint?

I decided to remove the door trim today, as I like the look of the cars natural body lines. I did a test/starter spot to see what I was up against and there seems to be a black line of adhesive or paint behind the trim. has anyone run into this and how did you remove it?

The black stuff is adhesive. It looks like your car was repainted with the moldings in place.

so some good adhesive remover "should" remove this. what about an eraser wheel?

Eraser wheel didn't do much for me... I would not advise trying to remove these unless you're going to repaint the doors. That black stuff just wouldn't respond to any chemical I threw at it, and you will burn through the paint before it comes off with the eraser wheel.

Sean, IIRC pulling these will leave some holes in the quarter panels. If your doing a respray that might not matter, but just thought I would mention it. I'm with you though, these things really do ruin some nice lines on the car.

I used a lot of 3m general purpose adhesive remover and a cut piece of pine (for the edge the cut provides) and scraped away. Then i buffed away.

It was a pain in the ***.

Yeah so far I have also been unable to get most of that stuff off of the race car. I've tried lots of chemical killers but it is pretty resilient stuff!

I gave up too. Tried the wheel and various adhesive removers to no avail.
