$100 '79 924 Project
I bought a '79 924 from my neighbor for $100 this weekend. It was his daily driver until he let it sit for the past 5 years. Its not pretty, and the interior is very wet (dang you portland oregon!) I am not a master mechanic by any means. I bought this to sharpen my skills and give myself a little project. My aspirations for the car are to get it running and turn it into a weekend toy.
If you were taking over this project and making a check list of things to do to the car before I try and start it, what would it be? Help me get it back up and running!
Thanks!

COOL! What a deal. I'd spend a $100 on that in a split second.
As for the paint, don't paint it! It's already pretty rusty and I've seen some really cool rusty bodies done on purpose.
You're almost there. LOL
oh ya, welcome to RL

Congrats man! I think it's be pretty awesome. If you left the rust on and made it look similar to that BMW that'd be sick. Wish I would have kept my old 924.

ahhh Adam, Adam, Adam.... getting into the spirit w/ some fav tv shows from that wonderous time gone by.... btw, that wave up there isn't the famed Banzai Pipeline, it's a rather lesser known spot affectionately named, "Rockpile...." for brave lads like yourself.

There's something to be said about the "rat look"...
Here's one of my favorite rides from a few years back. Right at the top of my list of "Cars I Never Should Have Let Go".

actually quite the contrary, the first upgrade will be the moment he coaxes that crusty old belt into breaking.
the road to nirvana indeed, begins there.
