That photo was taken at the "TajMaGaraj Kreuzin" in Carrilon Park. I have a bunch more on CD around here some where. He has a entire warehouse of Porsches in downtown Dayton. Check it out:

We need to schedule a weekend party there.

UDPride, keep an eye on the forums here next year. I'll post the date when the next Kreuzer event is when I find out. Too bad you missed it this year, there were some incredible cars there. (I'd dearly love to drive that RSK) We need to hook up sometime, I'd like to see your 951. I don't think I've seen one in that color up close.
BTW, there is someone in my neighborhood with a very yellow Diablo. I've seen it on my street two or three times. All engines should sound like that.
Tifo, I'm up for a weekend party at the TajMaGaraj. How do we set it up?

I'm game for anything in the Dayton area as long as its not colder than a titches wit outside.
I dont remember what color the Lambo was I saw behind the BMV. It was the same color every time though. May have been yellow. I know it was an SV because it had the SV sig on the side.
Ive only seen a 959 in person once but I was so shocked when I saw it I wondered if it was a kit car and not the real thing. We're talking a good 10 years ago.

speaking of MOTOREX and Skylines, I saw them driving 2 R34s on the freeway on my way to work one day. At first, I thought they were just some ricers faking the funk....until I pulled alongside and realized it was RHD. There was also a guy with a R32 in my city. Oh yah, a bunch of skylines showed up at the Nissan 240sx meet in Gardena back in june.

I thought the 959's weren't able to be registered and driven in the States But I see the one with tags and am hearing you guys talking about seeing them on the roads. Are these people driving them illegally??

Summer of 2001 when i visited Zuffenhausen factory customer center, i saw 11 959's waiting for service...They told me factory customer centers service is the only place in Germany where you can have service for your 959

You can register them for "show purposes" and not drive them more than 2500 miles per year. There's also a couple guys who brought them in as "racetrack only" cars.

I wish I was rich. As an old wise man once said, "Money can't buy you happiness, but it will let you look for it in a lot more places."

Or how about.....
"Money isn't everything, but it sure is right up there with oxygen."
And if someone tells you money isn't good for you, tell them.....
"That's OK..... gimme what you've got."

I have been through the gov-ment website about importing cars with a fine toothed comb and cannot find the exemption of which you speek (show car/2500 mi. per yr.). Does someone have the statute? Arguably, since the 959 was never DOT'd nor EPA'd it cannot be brought up to 'US specs'. You can import as a 'race only' car, but that would mean driving on the road is illegal! You can import a car for study/investigation for one year, but after that it has to be shipped out or distroyed (not a chance someone is going to crush a 959!).
nice car though
From a distance, if done right, you couldn't tell it from a component car (kit) -- they've come a long way from a Manx on a VW chassis

My favorite!

Phooey. It's done all the time (although I hadn't heard of a 959 successfully converted). The Nissan Skyline GTR was never imported officially, but Motorex imports them, converts some of them to LHD (the factory has never made a LHD version) and they modify them to pass regs. There used to be special clauses for a once per lifetime exemption for certain parts of the process, but I don't know if they still exist.

don't give me the fooee -- give me the reg! All I said was from the customs site I couldn't figure out how they were doing it. I wanted to know how! Like YOU said -- I've never heard of a 959 being done officially either. I'm not denying it couldn't happen or that it doesn't happen, just that it maybe shouldn't happen! How? Anyone?
PS the once in a lifetime thing was if you bought, and owned the car in a foreign country then you could bring it bac to the US -- they stopped that in 1986 I believe (too bad!).
