Trust me Geo, I'm not knocking Japanese cars by any means. Although I'm only 25, I've grown up in the middle of the import car scene. I've seen it evolve first hand to what it is now. Honestly I'm happy and disappointed at the same time. When I first got interested in cars, Japanese cars to be precise. The main focus of tweeking the car was to follow the race scene in asia. Japanese road racing. Mainly civics, crx's etc. That to me was cool. Nowadays I would say especially post fast and the furious, it's gotten out of hand. Drag is great because it makes us see the potential of the engines as far as HP is concerned but for the participants it's not so much a show of skill as it is a show of skill for the shop building the car and how much money you have. Except for maybe sub 11 second cars which start to get a little touchy under hard launch. Anyways just my opinion. I'm probably gonna get flamed but thats ok. I can take it.

Sorry to double post but, Geo I used to be a very happy civic owner who would do DE's, so trust me I know the potential of rice.

Hilarious how many folks on here took you seriously Keith. I was cracking up knowing that you were cracking up reading them.

No offense guys. It's hard to tell sarcasm through the 'net.

I really hate it when I don't know I'm supposed to be racing too. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

I always know when I'm supposed to be racing. The starter throws the green flag.

Tell me WHY that just because he has altezza lights and some exhaust pipe he has to be considered RICE? to me RICE is someone who acts like their car is faster than they are not.

now if the guy had a NOS sticker on his car and promoting products he doens't have, then THAT is rice.

and stop glorifying the 951 so much. when you guys go to a CIVIC board and see that their are talking crap about the 944 series, you guys say "they are stupid." and then when someone here says CIVIC you guys bash on that. WHOS RIGHT?

civics are very well engineered cars. the suspension is actually designed quite well (ask ahmet about this one) and i believe honda was the first maker to pump 100HP out of 1L of displacement.

if the car is fast and the owner is happy with it, what right do u have to bash it?

Shaun, don't be obtuse. If you ride around racing people who aren't racing you, that is RICE.

Oh - and Altezzas are ALWAYS rice. (just so you'll know)

Everyone knows Civics can be hella fast - no one is debating that. It just wasn't the point of the thread.

What's single-shear?

Shaun:

Im guessing youve got a certain Japanese car somewhere in your garage with wing on it? Im sensing alot of insecurity here.

Edit: I thought this might be relevant from the "You might be a Ricer if..." site

- Flying past the person who is 10 car lengths in front of you after they have put on their brakes.. and claim a victory.

Pretty much as it happened, eh?

- after losing you flip your opponent off... rev your motor and fail to break the wheels loose even around a corner.

This is standard behavior.

Friends dont let friends drive rice.

Man, that "You might be a ricer if.." -page must have been written by a camaro mullet. Sure it has a few funny points, but this I don't get:

"You think pushrods are a bad thing"

... hmm, I guess I'm super ricey then. And I even got the clear blinkers!! AIEEGH

single shear bolts are designed to be under the tension of one force in each direction not pulling in the center of a bolt and pushing the other directon on both ends of the bolt(double shear) Imagine pushing down in the center of this too ^------]^ those arrows are supposed to be forces.
