or less than $4k thrown at <a href="http://www.andersonmotorworks.com." target="_blank">www.andersonmotorworks.com.</a>

The boys from anderson will most likely comment here if they see it. They have a bunch of setups for rebuilt, stroked/bored/etc. motors that will get you to 200HP easily, as far as I've seen from emails/comments. If I had the cash, and needed a new motor, I'd be thinking about it seriously. Plus, with a higher output NA motor, you don't have a superchanger and its complications to deal with. (or turbo.)

Or you could "sell it and buy a 951" as most turbo owners will tell you

Actually no. You have to subtract the amount you would get for selling your 944na. So it would be more like $6000 for 951, -$3000 for NA, so it really would only cost $3000 to get 217hp from your engine AND you get a brake and suspension upgrade as well! Not to mention upgrade potential to 300, 400, 500hp!

Two reasons I can't sell my NA. 1. I like it just want a little extra hp. 2. I have a loan on it for a pretty large amount ($7,500). The NADA booked it at 8,500 so I think it was a fair price. I forgot to mention I'm in college so money is tight.

I am not going to say it can't be done, as it obviously can, but there's more than one way to skin a cat. Try weight reduction and upgrading the suspension, and then see if you really feel the need to up the hp. Just changing the wheels to a lightweight setup alone will make the car feel a heck of a lot more responsive.

The biggest problems with upgrading hp on a NA are:

1) it does cost a fair amount of money to make a significant increase in hp on a NA.

2) you can spend the same amount of money to upgrade to a decent 951 that will already have the suspension/brakes to handle the hp. And on top of that, the 951 is a MUCH better platform to further upgrade when you get more money.

3) an upgraded NA will feel out of balance, and cause you to want to spend more money to upgrade the suspension and brakes, putting you right back to the "just buy a 951" argument all over again (regardless of your current loan situation).

Seriously, a NA lightened and with a slightly tweaked suspension really is a thing of beauty. You might try that first, and then if you really need more hp, then you can consider forced induction for it. But I would suggest that the upgrade path should be driver education first, suspension second, brakes third and THEN hp.

Regards, ...Scott
