Default Installing a LSD

ok how hard is it to up grade a regular rear to a LSD? and besides buying a $1200 plus unit what other options do I have. any thing else I should replace/check while in there?

Buy a gearbox that already has one........ $1200ish and up
Guard Transmission installed in your GB...$1600ish plus install
Quaife (not a true LSD)..........................$1200 plus install

install isn't THAT difficult as long as you can handle rebuilding the trans.. reshiming of the bearings, setting of the preloads, remeshing of the ring and pinion.. very involved... unless you JUST install the LSD... in which case you need to verify the preload on the bearings, mesh of the R&P and shiming of everything LSD related...

IIRC, if you are considering a $1200 LSD, be prepared to add another $1200 at least or so for a proper install.. or be prepared to do it yourself...

depending on my head prep, I am considering having my LSD and cooling loop installed by a local shop familiar with our cars (owner has a preped track 951) only catch is they aren't cheap...
