I just bought a set of factory 968 wheels with center caps and almost new dunlop snows from a guy that lives 15 minutes from me. he bought a 968 and put 17inch take offs on.

i bought my 17 inch take offs on ebay. bought them from a dealer, the tires were brand new, and go for 950 at tire rack. that means i paid about 700 for brand new porsche wheels and color center caps delivered.

keep checking ebay.

If I had the money, I would go for the Lindsey Racing "custom" Fuchs. 17", strong, light, any offset or width... <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" /> Just little to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

I was interested in them until they explained that Lindsey uses 911 6" wide fuchs as the donor wheels to make these rims. So, getting the finished pruduct to fit over S4 and 951S brakes will be impossible. Not to sure about fittiment over standard 951 brakes, that could be OK.....

I emailed Lindsey inquiring about this and never got an answer.

Thanks everyone.

A few notes:
I know about painting my own center caps, been there, done that. Didn't think they are the same size or design as centercaps from say, a C2 though.
I would love to have Fuchs on my car. Chromed but still with the black masking is my favorite. But it is late offset car and Fuchs don't fit.

Frankly, I didn't know they made replica Fuchs! Are they as heavy as the other replicas? I ask because you guys have me sort of convinced to wait for the lighter OEM's. I don't supose replia Fuchs come in 17's?

Jessa, Pretty sure the wheels off your 928 don't fit my 944. Besides, they are Design 90's aren't they? I'm looking for 993's or C2's or perhaps Twists. Thanks for your offer. I don't think I'd go for a non-Porsche wheel except for Fikse's and those are like $3500!!!

HRE model 311 looks just like the Fuchs and you can get custom offsets, widths, and finishes. They are rather pricey though, on their site they show a set of 16*8 and 16*9s would go for about 2700.

Tifo,
Oops, just read your posts about the Lindsey Fuchs. FIrst, they are way too expensive for me, though I like them. Can't say I LOVE them though. Not sure I like the non-original three piece design. Besides, I'd want the black with polished spoke face. Maybe they could do that? As for fitting over my brakes? No issue, little NA brakes!
I guessI'll keep looking at Ebay and on our Clssifieds here and hope for the best/planets to align!

Compared to the price of NOS Fuchs (if you can find 'em) Lindsey's version is downright inexpensive! IIRC 16x7 was almost $1000 each! </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">Originally posted by tifosiman:

QB]</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">Actually, I can chime in here with some personal experience. You definetly WILL notice the weight of the non-factory wheels in your NA. My car feels like I gained 30hp when I switch from my 17" C2 replicas to my 16" fuchs. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> The tires and aspect ratios are correct, so it is only a matter of weight and not wheel/tire diameter.

The difference is very noticable, IMHO. If you had a 300hp turbo, I think you would notice less of a difference....

Tifo <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">I'll second (or third) that, when I first got my Fuchs the difference was night and day, between them and the PDs that preceded them.

Tifo, I didn't know that. Way to shoot down my dreams <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> . Anyway, maybe if different donor wheels were used, the larger brakes would fit. I might have to look into that, along with some local shops to make them. Inexpensively. Wish me luck.

Stephen,

Centerville? I live on the border between Centerville and Bellbrook, just a mile or so from Centerville HS. Where are you at? Going to the Tajmagaraj event? What color is your 951?

I'd personally LOVE a set of HRE's in the twist-style (549 i believe?) but I've got my cookies I love.... Refinsished of course, in the BBS Diamond Black colour... (stripped 'em, polished 'em, then powdercoated 'em transparent black) Painted centercaps, and new black alloy lugs.... sweet rims.....

I don't care for the new style rims on the '44.. makes it look too boxterish... those fenders require some depth to the rims to look right...

Dave (LeftLaneGuy), Post a picture of your refinished cookie cutters. Preferably sort of close up!

Hey Tifo,
Sorry I didn't reply over the weekend. I have been offline since Thursday eve. A guy I grew up with got married on Saturday, so I have been a little busy with the festivities.

Anyway, I moved from the western side of Cincinnati up to Centerville about a month and a half ago due to getting a job at Wright Patt. I am right across from the dayton mall on sr725. So yeah, I'm rather close. For some reason the 80 mile one way commute did not appeal to me...

Can't make it to the Taj'ma garage (sp?) cause of time constraints. I have a blue 88 951 that is sitting in my parents garage until I can get the finances together to get a new (used) block, BIG turbo, tech 3, and some other uber go fast parts. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> I also need to find the time, between working and going to school full time, to work on some pet 951 projects that have never been done before. We'll see if that ever happens. Hope to go to The Fest this summer. it will have to be without the 951 though. <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" /> See ya. <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" />

Refinished Cookie Cutters? *PERK* I've been thinking of redoing mine, either polished or repainting the centers back to true black! They look faded right now.
