Oil Cooler Gasket

I have the oil cooler gasket kit, the seals for the oil pressure relieve valve, and even the alignment tool to start the job.
My only question for those who have experience with removing the oil pressure sending unit is, is it necessary to use a 24mm stubby "thin" open end wrench to remove the sending unit?
This is the last bit of research I need to iron out before attempting the job.
Thanks is advanced...

I have gotten the oil pressure sender off before using a regular 24mm combination wrench (and it's actually kinda large). The thickness of the wrench was OK but dealing with the length was tricky. I think I may have used a crescent wrench once. My car is an NA though so I don't know if the turbo will have extra stuff limiting your space to work.

I just didn't my oil cooler gaskets took me and a buddy an hour to complete the job. I just used a adjustable crescent wrench. A 10mm for the heat sheild and 13mm with uni-joint and extension.
Good luck

Clarks isn't clear on one thing; if you have the early 3-pc relief valve, it sounds like you don't need to use an alignment tool? I wish there were more pictures on Clark's showing the relief valve and such.

The tool is most important when you have a three piece valve. At the link in my sig below I have a write up on changing the seals in a turbo. Probably not overly helpful for an n/a but might be of some use...

Yeah, with the late 1-piece OPRV you can use the valve itself as the alignment tool. With the early 3-piece, you have to trial-and-error it with tightening the housing bolts until the valve assembly slides in and out smoothly, then you can torque the bolts and wrap up. I never have a problem, but I still would like to get the tool for next time just to be safe.

I found a thin stubby crescent wrench at sears for the oil pressure sending unit and completed the oil cooler gasket replacement over the weekend.
Thanks to the alignment tool, it worked perfectly and relieved a lot of worry.
Do you think it necessary to replace the heat shield if the headers are ceramic coated?
