Default Tollbox organization and liner...

I just got a new tool box and am looking for inspiration. What did you use to line the drawers and/or organize the tools? Bonus points for pics! Thanks.

I won't post a photo of mine...it's ugly...(foam sheeting from wal-mart). My work uses this stuff sold by snap-on as well as my fathers company. You actually heat your tools and set them on it to form a perfect shape to the exact tool. I'm sure it's pricey, but if you're a fanatic like I think you are () it might be worth a look! I'm sure you can get some good hits if you google "tool shadowing"

There are also companies that will custom cut foam toolbox liners for you if you want to have it perfect and done mind spending some money

If you go to sears they have foam pad inserts to put in the drawers. You just have to cut it to length, it comes in a big sheet.

Default Drawer liners

Have used many types/brands through the years. Currently use this perforated stuff found at Lowes. About $10. for 2'x10'. Tools seem to stay in place pretty well, about the same as the hi-end flat sheets available from Snap-on and Matco but not quite as fancy (I have some of each.)

i don't use a tool box like that. i have a more portable box/bag. but to keep my socket in-line i use these
http://www.offroadtrailtools.com/sho...ct_detail&p=65
they're awesome. i've thrown them to the other side of my car onto the driveway and all the sockets stayed put. it's also nice for putting them where you're working. i had it hanging over my header panel a few times, and on my windshield, over my half axle ect...

My liners came with the box. Harbor Freight has a pretty good selection of tool box organization pieces for pretty cheap.

For reference here is the tool box.

Here is an example of it without the organizers.

An with!

slightly off topic - anyone keep a toolkit handy in their car? like other than the factory bag. I've been looking at some... but those tool boxes you buy are always half useless. any ideas what would be a must have item for an on the go toolset?

I carry a couple small bags. Shallow and deepwell sockets and a wrench set along with assorted screwdrivers.

Here is tool area and box.

The top box is just small enough to carry around by one person at 100lbs This goes to the track with me all the time and the tools are placed so they don't move around. it even fits in the back of a 944, but getting it in is bit hard due to they way you need to lift itin. The foam cutouts take time to make, but work really well zero rattle even on bump roads, plus I can instantly tell if I have a missing tool.

I have since ditched the socket box as it just started to get old and come a part. I moved all the electrical and sockets to second smaller box. Not pictured.

I have simple liners in the lower box, but frankly I have never organized that box very well. It most has "junk" in it or non car tools or other tools I don't really need for my 944.

I love tool control, but I've come to the conclusion that if you have room in your toolbox for organization, then you don't have enough tools.

I disagree if you can't keep it organized then its time to buy more toolbox..

I have a roll around "Mac Tool 3 Drawer" that I use for all my daily items. Then I have a 19 Drawer Roll Cab for all my less frequently used/Larger stuff. At the shop the Lista Boxes we use for stuff are atleaset 30ft long and 6ft tall.

My Daily Roll Around.
Top Drawer with Screwdrivers and Metic Wrenches, I have about 8 sets of wrenches but keep most in my big box (Note, I keep no standard tools in my Roll Around)

2nd Drawer is all misc sidecutters/pliers/vicegrips/etc.

Currently Re-doing my top that holds sockets/ratchets/pribars/etc.

Bottom Drawer is all Air-tools/Hammers
