hesitation problem

My car semes to hesitate when accelerating for about the first 30 seconds or so of running. It only happens when teh engine is cold, but it's hesitating really bad. If I start it and just try to drive before the idle settles, it will really try to stall unless I really run teh clutch and keep the engine at a high RPM.
Anyone have any ideas?

With the engine totally cold (at air temp) measure the resistance of the AFM air temp sensor (pins one and four at the AFM connector), the reading should be the same as the resistance across the engine temp sensor (the two pin device at the front on top of the head) as the sensors are electrically identical and should be at the same temp.

Okay, so I'm lazy, but the car runs great now! I replaced teh AFM (it only took about 10 minutes) and the car's idle is back down from 1000 to about 750 and the hesitation is gone in all! It's great! Thanks Michael for the AFM!
