Radio won't turn on
Took the car out for the first drive yesterday , and noticed the radio wouldn't turn on. Normally, in the 944, I'd have to push a button on it to make it turn on. But now it's not doing anything. I checked all the fuses (main fuse box, inline fuse, and radio fuse) and they're all good. Checked the wiring, and it's good too.
Of course, I didn't notice until the end of ym drive. Too busy listening to the engine!

Check the fuse box fuses? Did you wire it correctly? There should be a constant power and an ignition power wire. Check with a wiring diagram to make sure the colors match up.

It was working fine before. Here's how I have the wires hooked up:
(From stereo to factory wires)
Yellow "Battery" Wire -> Green wire that runs to fuse box
Black Ground -> Thickest brown wire
Front Speaker Wires -> Wires to Splitter/ Fader
Rear Speaker Wires -> Wires I ran to back of the car to install 6x9's in the rear-cubbies.

did you check with a meter or some other tool for power on the green wire? FWIW, I recently installed a new unit and instead of using a brown wire for ground I grounded it on a screw on the lower side of the radio compartment.

I have had this problem also. The 924 sat for a long time and when I started driving it again the constant battery power circuit had 3 volts, the wipers stopped working and of course the radio wouldn't turn on. I have cleaned every contact on the car, and I mean every single contact, plus added a neww ground bus under the dash to the engine. I didn't know there was a light behind the headlight switch! Every single electrical component in the car works now.

I am having a similar problem. mine has worked fine, but about 3 weeks after i pulled mine out, the sound started cutting out. mind you, the cd player kept playing, and had power, but the sound stopped. right now i only have my 2 front speakers hookedup.... i threw a deck from my second car in, and same thing happened. so it is not my deck, its getting power fine. checked and the speakers are hookedup, and the wires coming out of the deck look good too........anything like that happening for yours?

Nope. It was working, then I had some electrical starting problems, and after replacing the battery, starter solenoid, and ground cables, the radio decides not to work. Before it was working fine, playing to all 4 speakers. The only weird thing was that I would have to physically turn on the unit.
