Post LETS FINALIZE THE HERSHY STUFF!

It turns out I will have a booth at the swap meet. (LOTS OF 944 NA PARTS ) This would be a great place for all of us to meet at. I would also like to organize the trip up there, so lets start posting the direction we're coming from. I will be leaving from the Northern VA area.

I don't know my booth space yet, because I just mailed off my form. I will be driveing from Nashville Tn to the DC area on thursday. Then from the DC area to the swap meet on friday. I'll head back sunday after the autocross. With any luck I will have my 2.82L 951 and "Cliffard" the big red truck full of 944 parts! I will post my booth number when I have it and my cell number closer to the event. Hope to see you all there!

Ok I am also going Possibly hooking up with Jeremy
D on the way up if not i will be ther late friday night for the weekend. Sorry to hear about theBiz trip on sunday night Jeremy "That really sucks"
Question for those of you who have been to this swap meet. Are the venders going to have the prices resonable or are they going to keep the pie in the ski prices? This is a swap meet. "People looking for bargans and all" Any one clue me in on this?

Thanks <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

I found the prices to be great. The year i went i got a brand new MOMO wheel for $40, something like 5 oil filters for $3, and some other small things. I saw a guy who had an entire fyberglass carrara gt front end, hood, fenders and bumper start out asking what I thought was a great price, to begging for anyone to make him an offer so he didn't have to lug it back home. I think the entire thing went for just a couple hundred. There will be people with new stuff as well as used stuff. LOTS of wheels and just about everything Porsche you can think of. One of the coolest parts of the whole think is that porsche basicly takes over the entire town. Everywhere you look there are Porsches for 3 days strait! This event KICKS ***!!!

I've been to this event about eight times, and found that most of the vendors representing dealerships, or other "brick and mortar" companies, charge typical catalog prices (not great, but not too bad either) As with anything, there is always room for negotiation. Best time to "dicker" on a price is when no other customers are standing within earshot. They can be reluctant to make any deals if they think they may have to sell it to the guy standing beside you, for the same bargained price. As for used parts, it's pretty much a "what the market will bear" situation. You'll have to pull out your best negotiating skills, ie: ask if they can do better on their price, and make them an offer..they say "no, sorry I just can't go that low"... You put on a poker-faced, "couldn't-care-less" look, set the part down and walk away with your eyes fixated on another booth...they call you back with an offer closer in line with your offer...blah,blah,blah. You'll see it all here, from Porsche parts, to french fry machines. I saw a guy who had one of those Russian submarine clocks for sale, for the mere price of $380.00!
He said," if you're really interested in that, I'll give it to you for $280.00". Actually, I was looking at it because, two months earlier, I had bought the exact same clock from a mail order company, for....$40.00!!! Caveat Emptor!
I'll be leaving Erie,PA, around 6:00pm on Friday. Maybe I'll race...I mean see some of you on I-80.

Yea I'll do something like that. If I have my car there I will put a rennlist sticker on it and something that says *eurospeed951*. If it's running I'm going to park it with the hood up since my engine will look 10 times better than the car. I'll try to post pics later, but I am polishing my stock pipes, intake manafold, and cam box. It blew me away to see that I could make all of these look like chrome! It takes time, but man what a pay off!

J Berk, If I find I set off wheels at the swap meet that I like and can afford, then I will be selling my phone dials. I do have some cookie cutters and fuches. I have so much 944 stuff: glass, engine, carpet, trim, lights, and much much more.
