Default Can I use a late OPRV as an alignment tool for an early car (with 3-piece oprv)?

Just as the title states (asks), can I use a late (1989) OPRV as an alignment tool for my 1984 944 which uses the early 3-piece valve? I looked at pics of the retrofit valve for the early cars, and it looks like it's the same as the late valve but the threads are longer, so if I just don't thread it in all the way, it looks to me like I can use the late valve as an alignment tool. Just wondering... I was about to put my oil cooler back on and try to use the 3-piece to wiggle and try to align it right... :/

no the clearance can be (most likely is) too much which will cause the 3 piece valve to eventually get stuck and you will lose oil pressure
