Post Mount late set rims to an 1984 944 (early set hub)

Can you mount late set rims to an 1984 944 which have early set hubs. I know you can buy wheel spacers, but I was wondering if anyone has actually tried this situation? Does it work and what size of spacers are needed?

If the model above does work does anybody have a set of (4) phone dial rims they want to sell. 15" or 16".

I do know that you can purchase special rims from http://www.wheelenhancement.com that have the late set look, but are molded for the early set hubs.

Thanks

Hey datadigital: Check out the Wheels/Tires section in rennlist's General catagory. To answer your question, yes it's possible. Let's see if this picture works:

Good Luck

Danno is the real expert on this. See his post here that gives what is needed and how to go about it. I also have a set of 16 x 7,8 phone dials from my 86 951 (early offset), e-mail me if your interested.

Later,
Rob

What wasn't pointed out is that phone dials are available for both the early and late offsets. If this is the wheel you want, a set from an '86 could be used without needing any spacers (like those Rob mentioned).
