Question 944-ish car for all-season daily driver?

Looking for ideas...

Must have dual airbags, ABS. Automatics OK. Can be 944-ish in any number of aspects. Used preferred, I'm always a bargain hunter.

Bump!
Also needs to be FWD (or AWD) since there's snow around here into April.

Subaru SVX AWD
Funky coupe styling, 230 hp, pass airbag on LS and LSi, all are automatic, get one with a new tranny though or you will be replacing it. Snow people swear by 'em. HTH

My wife drives a '98 Eclispe GS-T. It is fwd, and handles great in the snow.

It is nice and comfortable as a daily driver.
Leather
Sunroof
10 Disc Infinity sound system
Cruise Control
2.0 Turbo - 210hp
0-60 right around 6.5sec (completely stock)

It handles great but I have much more fun with the 944.

I do really love that little turbo charger. The car pulls really hard up to well over 100Mph

It had 30k miles when we picked it last october, we paid $16k

well your paramiters are fairly vague, but I'll do my best.

Audi A4: Great handling, good solid cars, in quattro trim you can not beat them in the snow.

Audi 200Q (1991): Rare, but these cars have 20V turbo motor producing 232 hp from the factory, a little heavy, but still fun.

Audi UR Quattro: damn I love these cars.

Can you tell I like audi? Any way all the audi quattro cars are incrdible in the snow and the late a4's are great with reliability and a first year a4 shouldn't be fetching to much over 10K.

Also subaru's are great, the SVX is a bit quirky, but the Imprezas are great cars, 1.8 L are animic, but the later engines motivate the cars quite well.

Good luck.

Mazda MX6's, well IMHO they suck.

What's wrong with a 944 with decent snow tires? That's what I used when I lived in upstate NY 2 winters, Maine 4 winters, and Minnesota 5 winters. The only problem is the clearance. If the snow is too deep, then you're hosed.

Yep, I've considered the snow tire option too...does sound tempting, driving a 944 year-round. But I want a little more modern/updated safety features, and possibly automatic too...for the daily drive. It's like this...I've got my rough 944 on its last legs (runs nicely, but is just so worn out in so many ways) and a newer Pontiac Bonneville which is a tank as far as reliability, but I've had it for awhile and it's time for a change. So I want to get something fun yet practical, and if it fills the 944 void in some way (that'll be tough) I'll unload the 944 as a parts or driver to some lucky person. (Then the quest begins for a perfect NA example maybe? Hmm...)

The only tough thing is finding a car as trusty as this Pontiac...I'd hate to sell it for some troublemaker of a car. And it's got tons of room, I might miss that too (so don't suggest a Del Sol or anything ). Choices...

I hate to tread OT like this...but I know you guys love talkin' cars, and have great taste in cars, so who better to ask?

You could look at one of the IMprezas, either a new WRX, or possibly a used 2.5 RS. 4 doors, room for family, and AWD

audi S4, and then take it to APR for a new ECU,
quattro, 6-speed, bose, leather, you can make 300+hp with that inline 4 with 25-30mpg.

yeah baby <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

that is going to be my next car, hopefully

but no bargain

as far as mx-6's...my girlfriend has a 94 mx-6 LS which has the v-6...its quite a fast car...it gives me a run for my money...and there's tons of mods you can do to it to make it faster if you desire...as far as thats concerned...Probe GT is the same car as the MX-6...just different packaging...My opinion.
