Blaszak steel control arms installed on 951
Just finished doing an install of the Blaszak Precision Motorsport modified steel control arms (front) on my 86 951. They are very high quality and beefy units. Slightly heavier than stock.
Install was very straight forward. Units have replaceable balljoints for easy track maintenance. Units also use the 924S rear caster block which as a bonus adds further adjustability to the front suspension.
One last advantage (as I see it) the sway drop link mount is thicker in height and depth (alu arms have thin inset for bushings) which should make the link attachment stiffer.

Eugene!
My 86 951 desperatley needs the control arms replaced too!
How much were the blaszak control arms, in USD before shipping??? (Markus hasn't responded to my email yet... 2 days now...)
Also, how did you replace them? I've noticed a few places that give a short description, but nothing with pictures or anything like that...
I can't afford those $1500 billet A-arms, and factory stock A-arms are pretty expensive too!

Rich,
they were $240 each, add another $20 for rear caster blocks from Parts Heaven and you are go to go. Markus supplies all the bushings as well.
Install is a cinch. Unbolt the ball joint from the wheel spindle, then knock it loose with a pickle-fork. Then unbolt the arm from the subframe and rear caster block. 4 bolts total (17mm and 19mm). Takes 5-10 minutes per side. Oh, forgot to say unbolt the sway bar drop-links too (1 more bolt per side 17mm).

240$ USD? Hmm... factory arms may be cheaper..... but in the long run, I can always replace the ball joints with the Balszak arms..
Oh well, can you bloody believe that SCAN auto motive here quoted about an HOUR PER SIDE to do the install? at 68CDN$ per hour!!! And thats the cheapest in town that I'd trust!
Well, you've convinced me, I think I'll place an order with Markus to ship em to me ASAP.
Thanks Eugene!

Rich,
I did mine earlier this year. It's a straightforward job. It took me a couple hours. If I had a lift and did it again, I bet I could do it in less than 1 hour.
The hidden cost involved is that you'll probably need a new alignment when installing new arms and caster blocks. I suspect if you had a proper 4 wheel alignment done semi recently, they'll only need to adjust the front which should be about 1 to maybe 2 hrs tops.
Eugene, did you need an alignment?

I have not aligned it yet b/c I need to re-index the torsion bars. I figured sometime in the next 3 months when I get enough courage to do the job I'd get all 4 wheels lined-up and be done with it.
I actually did my tie rods too and just set them at the same length as the old ones.
