Post Inexpensive Roll Cage Complete !!!!

Well, I got a call tonight to pick up my car after the completion of the roll cage by G & K Race Cars in Mooresville, NC. They did an awesome job. They were able to make the cage exactly how I wanted it. The welded mounting plates are substantial and solid. The bars are nicely bent and close to the body. The bars go perfectly through my dash. I will post some pictures tomorrow. The total cost was $600 plus a good tip. I did most of the prep work in terms of opening up the vents, taking head panels off, and peeling back the carpet and seats. Donny and Danny at G & K are happy to take other 944s and look forward to your business. They are honest, hard working guys. Just for comparison, I was quoted $1600 to $1800 at Autometrics for the same job. I am so thrilled I got the job I did so close to home for the great price.

Sauerkraut

PCA Race Rules calls for the following minimum diameters and wall thickness for cars over 2500 pounds.

Mild Steel 1.75" x .095 or 1.50" x .120

G & K Race Cars installed a 1 5/8" x .120 mild steel bar. This complies with the regulations. They also had a copy of the PCA regulations so as to completely comply with all details.

I only drove the car back from the shop in the rain, so I will have to tell you about the stiffness later.
