Default Are my door locks frozen?

So I'm cleaning the snow off the 944 last night, and it's pretty cold outside. The car cover feels like cardboard. The key doesn't go all the way in the passenger side lock cylinder. So I try the driver side. It goes in all the way there, but won't turn at all! I didn't try the hatch yet. I'm sure it'll be fine when it warms up, but what should I try for now? I figure the latch or lock cylinder need to be heated up somehow.

Use WD40 in all the locks and on the rubber around the doors so you can unlock and open the doors
and stay warm

Try heating the key with a lighter, then insert.

If you have electric supply a hair dryer works well. You can use hot water too. If you do that its worthwhile to cover the keyway.

Now that's a new one, must try it.
I used to use this as an excuse not to go to school, but yes all of the options above work and I've been told about some sort of graphite spray, but I've never really looked for it.

And be sure to have someone take a photo of you with your wet lips stuck to the cold metal door.

Nah, racers use wd40 all the time to remove rubber marks from the paint. You're right that silicone is probably better anyway though.

At this time of year "COLD" always use Graphite Lock Lube. You never use hot water as it will freeze faster and lock up the key cylinder. Use silicone spray on the rubber door seals as it displaces water. You can use a lighter and heat up the key to get it to turn easy if needed. Never put your lips on freezing metal or you'll get lip locked to the car.

Cheers from the South,
Larry

you got a hot date but no time to wax your car ?

you can go to a car wash and get the works.... and when the car still looks dull,

take WD-40 and a rag - and wipe on for emergency supercar wax shine in a few minutes.

bad for the paint ? could be.
