Question Can Faded Plastic Bumper Be Buffed Out?

The front bumper cap on my 951 is faded compared to the rest of the car. Before I get it painted, I was wondering if it's possible to colorsand/polish/compound it to bring back the nice red color it used to have? Being that it is plastic, I'm not sure if there's a whole lot I can do...

Thanks,
sm

the plastic makes no difference BUT, since its on a flexible part of the car, the coat of paint isnt as thick and buffing would be easy to burn it..

if you know how, go for it. IF NOT, try working with some HEAVY wax...
