ES-100 are W rated (to 168mph).

A lot of modded 951's have a higher top speed than 168.

right now, if you run 205/60/15, tirerack is selling old AVS-i's for only $42 each!!!!! Thats just insanely crazy. I run them on my bmw e36 and they stick like no other! Road noise....well, i dont really mind. I wish it had a more aggressive design tho. HOwever, the new ES100 have a nice design to it, very good looking!

gonna re-post this from some guys on the the pca (golden gate region) list regarding tire fittings for use with his wheels, check it.. (for a 1990 911 C2):

......blah, blah

I just got off the phone with Dave at Wheel Enhancements. This guy is passionate about wheels and even though he knew he was not going to make any money on me (his tire prices are higher than those here in San Jose) he was happy to spend almost 40 minutes with me. A GREAT guy.

Simply to close the loop for any others that might have the same interest. I was fortunate ... the Mille Miglia Wheels (Dave confirmed the brand based on the marking on the back of the rims) that I purchased through Automotion were exactly the right wheels for my car.

The size markings for the front wheels are:
ET-52 (rim offset = 52mm)
7.5Jx17H2
The size markings for the rear wheels are:
ET-47 (rim offset = 47mm)
9Jx17H2

Dave recommends the following tire sizes:
Front - 205/50/17
Rear - 255/40/17

---<edit>---

We had a long discussion on tires. My request was for a "Z" rated tire with good-to-strong performance characteristics, but that were reasonable quiet and smooth.

Dave suggested the following:

1) Continental ContiSport Contact 2*
smooth, quiet, not terribly grippy
2) Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetrico**
good mix of performance and smooth, quiet
3) Bridgestone S03***
next to the Michelin, the best all around
4) Michelin Pilot Sport****
"best tire on the market"

* Note that the ContiSport comes as both the "Contact" (the older model) and the "Contact 2" (the upgraded model)

** Note that the Pirelli PZero comes in to generic types: 1) "System", 2) "Rosso", and 3) "Nero". "System" (the older model) and "Rosso" (the newer significantly better model) come in two sub-types "Asimmetrico" and "Direzionale". For a rear engine Porsche, one would normally want the "Direzionale" on the front and the "Asimmetrico" on the rear, except that Pirelli does not make the "Direzionale" in 205/50/17.

*** Note the S03 is a "Y" rated tire.

**** Note that the Pilot Sport comes as itself and the "Pilot Sport Rib" models. Dave indicated that the "Sport" is the better of the two models.

<a href="http://www.tirerack.com" target="_blank">www.tirerack.com</a> can provide a comparison of all these tires. The first 3 are priced comparably. The Michelins which are about $200 more for the set.
