[quote]We should find a Japanese Rennlister and check into the TE-37 production line that doesn't make it over to the U.S. I know they have an 8lb TITANIUM wheel over there...

If you guys are really serious about wanting those wheels, let me know. I lived in Tokyo for 5 years and have friends there.

If you want to have the option to purchase BBS wheels for your Porsche, let them know at: marketing@bbs-usa.com

Here is a coversation that I that I had with them when I inquired as to why they do not make wheels for Porsches.

(read from the bottom up)
--------------------------------
Thanks for your reply. If you made the CH for my car, I would be buying a
set right now...

Although there are in aggregate fewer Porsches out there, the crowd I see
most often are Porsche Club members and others enthusiasts whom autocross
and track drive their cars. The kind of owners that purchase one or more
extra sets of wheels for their vehicles over its lifetime. Demand should
not be judged only by the number of cars on the road.

Of course, it ultimately comes down to business decisions, but have you even
researched this market segment of Porsche owners? (rhetorical question, no
need to reply back) I think there is a large untapped demand there.

It's sad to know that a company that I've always known to be a leader in the
wheel business is neglecting a group of auto enthusiast that seems to be a
perfect market for your product. Maybe some day...

Thanks and good luck selling wheels to everyone else but us Porsche guys!

> Chris , I am as astonished as you are. The production decisions are made
at
> the factory in Germany. We are asked what we need and what we would like
to
> see , but they produce only what they see a market for.
>
> The biggest problem is there are only so many Porsches out there but 100's
> of companies competing for those limited number of cars. Sadly, not every
> Porsche owner realizes they need better quality wheels than what they can
> pick up for $50.00 per wheel at Sears. We have never offered more than
just
> one or two styles at any given time for Porsche just because of the
limited
> market.
>
> I hope this information makes the limited selection easier to understand.
We
> are a business like everyone else and as much as we would like to satisfy
> every customer's needs , sometimes economics make it impossible to do
that.

> > Thanks for your quick reply.
> >
> > I find it a bit astounding that BBS offers wheels for a wide range of
> cars,
> > but yet does not offer anything else for Porsche cars. It seems to me
> that
> > this would be a large market for you. Can you briefly explain why BBS
has
> > decided not to offer anything in a fitment for Porsche? If there was
> enough
> > interest, would you consider offering wheels for Porsches?
> >
> > Thank you,

> > > Chris for the 968 we offer the LM style in 18x8 and 18x9.5 only. They
> > retail
> > > for $770.00 front and $860.00 rear.

> > > > I will be purchasing a new set of wheels for my '92 Porsche 968 in
the
> > > > future and am interested in the wheels that you have available for
my
> > car.
> > > > When I go to your website to select my manufacturer, there is no
> choice
> > > for
> > > > Porsche (even thought the Porsche script is prominently displayed in
> the
> > > > graphic just above). Ok. So I go on to the applications for the
> wheels
> > I
> > > > am interested in. No Porsche fitments there either.
> > > >
> > > > Do you sell non-custom wheels for Porsche cars? If so, can you
please
> > > > privide me with some information regarding which wheels are made to
> fit
> > my
> > > > particular vehicle. If there is a particular wheel that does not
come
> > > > drilled for my fitment, is it possible to have custom wheels
> > manufactured?
> > > >
> > > > Thank you,

The problem is a simple one. The five bolt circle used by Porsche is UNIQUE!! And, although there are a lot(?) of Porsche carts on the street, there are only a very few folks who want non Porsche wheels. Why Porsche went with an odd bolt circle? Who knows..I am sure they had their reasons (Yeah...Right...only they can supply replacements)

I have BBS wheels on my Passat. I like them. I have the original factory wheels on my '84 944. They will stay there. I have other things to spend $1200+ on than a set of wheels....

Just my opinion, although the lack of interchangability with other marques is accurate. Just be happy Porsche didn't choose to deswign their own thread sizes for nuts and bolts..I bet they considered it!!!

Cheers!!

Bob S.
