Salvaged project car or not?
Found this at the local IAA salvage yard: Red '86 944 Turbo
I don't think it sold in today's auction, so it'll probably be up next week. I went and saw it yesterday. The body has a few dents, mainly near the rear tires. The back bumper looks bent down a little. It is also missing the sunroof, so it has a little water damage in the interior. Also, I guess they don't have the keys so I don't know if the motor runs or not... it looked clean, but never know.
It costs $200 to register with IAA. You guys think this would be a good project car to revive if I could get it for like $500-1000? I'd love a great project car, but waiting to get it all going would suck.
I'd probably have about $7-8k I could throw at it. Would that much invested in this make it in better shape than your usual 951 that's for sale?

If you could get it for that amount run don't walk.
It will have a salvage title, just put $2K into it & you would have a bargain.

Figured I'd call them to find out whether or not it sold in today's auction and did for $2700. Guess my estimate was way off.
Back to saving $$ and searching for the right 951...

that's too bad. That would have been a great buy if it were for how much you had expected. You made me at least sign up for the IAA thing .. seems like something I might be interested in. <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />
