Good to see you back, I'm an old user (Mike Markota) and remember drooling all over each and every one of your cars.

Didn't you do a chassis swap with another lister way back in the day? A red one for a black one?

Always knew that you'd be back in a Pcar in some sort of fashion. Welcome back and don't be a stranger to the bastard child boards.

I did do a chassis swap involving cars numbers 2 and 3. Keith (who I am not sure lurks around the boards any more, I know he is still working over at Eurowerks here in Charlotte) and I swapped almost everything over between the two cars. A fun project, provided you have a shop with multiple lifts to get it done in.

Instead of responding directly to that question, I am going to quote myself from a very old post:

"Why abandon the 944 line after all this time? Because the lesson I learned in all the trials and tribulations of porsche ownership is: It is all about the driving, having a slower reliable porsche was more fun than a fast one that is only fast on paper because it spends its entire life on jackstands."

Ian,

Glad to see you're back in the game...Looks like a promising start.

Also, didn't realize you also had an E28 535is as well...I just parted with a car that looked remarkably similar...

Hey Ian,

Welcome back! Are you back in Charlotte? I still have the same black car I have had for 8 years now. I would love to meet up some time.

BTW, this is Richard, with Black 944 Turbo with Polished Cup Wheels.

Welcome back!

How's the 911 compare to the 944s?

Richard,

Nice to see you are still around, and that the 944 is still in the garage. And now that I am back I think a beernight is in order, they were a nice staple before I headed out, and will be happy to host one again now that I'm back. Perhaps after the weather gets a touch warmer.

Hey Ian,

I would love to do that again. You need to come up to Cars and Coffee, next weekend at North lake mall. I would love to catch up with you. BTW, very nice looking 911.

Richard,

I will make it up to cars and coffee one of these months, but that is temperature dependent as well.

Nick,

It is very difficult to compare the 911 and my past 944s because the cars share so little in common. Aside from being 2+2 coupes I cannot think of too many similarities that the two lines of cars shares (well they do have the same front seats and mirrors....). I am enjoy the raw nature of the SC, but I would like to have a 951 in the garage just so I could have my choice in the morning. If I did have a choice my guess is the 911 would be more of the weekend car, and the 951 would serve as a daily driver given that the creature comforts (heat and AC) work better in the more modern '44 chassis.

Ian:
Welcome back. Your old 924 is still going. My buddy who you sold it to built it into a 944 Cup car and has been racing it for a few years now. Still running good.
