Has anyone seen any articles on clear coolant?
The owner of the shop that installed the exhaust on my Firebird told there is now a clear, environmentally friendly coolant.
Sounds like the perfect thing for 944s. Especially with the O-ring milkshake sydrome so common to 944s

I am not sure if the fact that the coolant is clear makes any difference. The party line is that Porsche recommends coolant without phosphate. You'll find all kinds of posts on this on this and other forum sites. It even gets more complicated when you start talking about VW antifreeze, (Autobahn) that comes in two basic formulations - blue and pink. Then there are the long term coolants, etc. My bottom line is to use a non-phosphate formula just to be sure, and if you have the time, flush more often than recommended (every year, such as in the fall.) This also should have zero effect on coolant mixing, which is a failure of seals due to poor design in the oil/water heat exchanger.

I use the blue Autobahn VW coolant...It's truly phoshate free unlike others which simply advertise, "compatabile with aluminum"...
Never heard of the clear stuff.

I never heard of the clear stuff before yesterday either. That's why I'm posting here.
The clear stuff, if safe for aluminum is ideal for our cars. The oil cooler seals sneak up on you. Having colored coolant pop out at you early on could make flushing a little easier, not to mention cleaning the oil from the hoses easier too.
