OT: Trebuchets!

OT: Trebuchets!
Our physics project this quarter was to build a trebuchet to launch a baseball 100 ft....we may have gone a little overboard!
The base is 10'x5', the a-arms stand 6'3.5", and the throwing arm (from the pivot) is 10'! We're hoping to be able to put 450 pounds of counter weight on it, and through the baseball a good 300-400 ft. It's made mainly out of 2x6's and 4x4's, and the pivot bar is 1.5" solid, hardened steel. We still need to make the sling, add some more bracing, and possible add some wheels, but we're close!

P.S. Notice the two-post lift in the background?

That rocks, good work I watch a special on them the other day, and then there was the episode of junkyard wars when the tried to build one to launch a VW, I didn't quite work, but i'm rambling...
Anyway, I think you'll have that distance more than covered.....

Looks good man! My dad and I built one for scouts. It had about 80lbs of counterweight and threw an orange about 100 ft. With that kind of weight, you can REALLY launch stuff! Have fun, and watch the swing back of the arm and especialy the "pouch" that your object will be held in. It swings extremely violently.
